Our approach
Six steps, one route
Discover, research, design, build, test and improve. Each step builds on the last.
Step 1: Discover
Understand the problem, who it affects and what success looks like.
We start by listening. Before anyone suggests a solution, we map the problem, the people who live with it and the constraints around it, and agree on what a good result would be.
- Stakeholder conversations
- Problem framing
- Success criteria
Step 2: Research
Test our assumptions against real users, data and context.
Assumptions are cheap and expensive to get wrong. We check them with the people affected, the data available and how similar problems have been solved elsewhere.
- User interviews
- Market and context review
- Technical feasibility
Step 3: Design
Shape the solution and the experience before we build.
We turn what we learned into flows, interfaces and a technical plan, and put them in front of users early, while changes are still easy to make.
- User flows
- Interface design
- Architecture plan
Step 4: Build
Develop in short, reviewable steps with quality built in.
We build in small increments you can see and review, with testing, security and performance considered from the first line of code rather than at the end.
- Iterative development
- Code review
- Regular demos
Step 5: Test
Check it works for real people in real conditions.
We test with real users, real devices and real network conditions, then fix what gets in their way before launch.
- Usability testing
- Quality assurance
- Pilot runs
Step 6: Improve
Learn from real use after launch and keep making it better.
Launch is the start of learning. We measure how the solution is used, listen to feedback and keep improving what matters most.
- Usage measurement
- Feedback loops
- Continuous improvement
Principles we work by
- Problem first
We agree on the problem and what success looks like before we talk about solutions.
- Evidence over opinion
Decisions are made with users, data and prototypes, not by whoever speaks loudest.
- Small, visible steps
You see progress early and often, so there are no surprises at the end.
- Built to last
Security, accessibility, performance and maintainability are part of the work from day one.
